  • Today is Wednesday!

I like Wednesday!  No laundry, no errands, no classes to teach.  Just Matthew and me here at home together getting things done.  The only thing going today is my prayer group at three this afternoon and Mass tonight at seven.  I don’t even have to shower this morning if I don’t want to.

To coin an Irish phrase, it’s a fine soft day out there, so I guess we will be staying inside today.  I think I will make some bread and a pot of chili.  Then I will sit down to my sewing machines and work on a few unfinished projects.  My wonderful husband kindly adjusted the lighting in my sewing room so now it is as bright as day in there even on a gloomy on such as today.

Since my spirits are much calmer today than they were yesterday it calls for some restful type music.  How about Andrea Bocelli?  Maybe some Kathleen Battle.  Definitely a little Bryn Terfel thrown in for good measure.

Now a prayer that the Lord goes along with my plans and allows this day to be as restful and as productive as I’d like it to be, then we shall see.

  • I saw yesterday’s post this morning.  My mom always calls me for a “pep talk” before she goes to work (she’s an L&D nurse), so when you said pep talk, I couldn’t help but desperately want to give you a hug.  I’d say that what you’re doing is far more important than what my mom does.  She helps to deliver babies, which is awesome and wonderful in its own right, but you are conditioning little souls!  The effects you have on these kids is eternal.  Whether or not their parents back you up is on the souls of those parents.  What you do is really, truly wonderful and amazing.  Maybe you could send the kids away with handouts for the parents at the end of each class so they can reinforce your work or even convert their own erroneous ways of thought?  This isn’t a pep talk.  It is simply the truth.

I love that you have an easy day today!  I hope you get everything done that you want to get done, but all at a casual and leisurely pace.  I’m debating a trip to the fabric store (my comforter desperately needs a duvet, but that’s only if I don’t gut it and use the batting for a whole new blanket) and Target.  But my kids are in a learning mood today, so I may scrap everything and just my shopping this weekend.

  • @JMHardens060703 - Thanks for the pep talk and the encouragment.  The kids were surprisingly good.  Only seven yesterday, but that could change.  I just get myself psyched out thinking about the wrong things.  My husband always reminds me to think about the kids and not even let the parents enter my mind.  I do send home a parents letter at the beginning of the year and then we have to meet periodically throughout the year.  It just bothers me the way that they regard the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.  But, as the big guy says, he is a big boy and he can handle it and he doesn’t need me to fight all his battles for him.

So far today plans have already changed but it isn’t getting hectic so that’s okay with me.  I have to run to the store for Matthew and Doug suggested a pedicure for my sore cracked feet.  I have also been finishing up the notes that I took at the Sept. Rosary meeting at church.  When I get back I will settle down to sew.  Thanks for the hugs as well.  Knowing that there are others who sympathize and understand helps immensely.

Hug those little people for me and tell them that their auntie in NY loves them and prays for them everyday.

  • I hope  you get that nice peaceful day you’re longing for! Wednesday is my day each week that I usually don’t have to be anywhere except noon Mass so I’m hoping that I have a peaceful productive day too…God bless!!

  • I like your musical choices.  May the blessings of your productive hands surround you today.

  • @nettieheidmann - Thank you.  I am feeling a great deal more refreshed and relaxed.  I need a day like this every once in awhile.
