I read this on a friends site and had to copy it here.  Funny and yet sad.

    An Elderly Priest’s Dying Wish

An old Catholic priest lay dying in the hospital.

For years he had faithfully served the people of the nation’s capital, Washington, D.C.

He motioned for his nurse to come near.

    “Yes, Father?” said the nurse.

“I would really like to see Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi before I die,” whispered the priest.

“I’ll see what I can do, Father,” replied the nurse.

The nurse sent the request to them and waited for a response. Soon the word arrived. Harry and Nancy would be delighted to visit the priest.

As they went to the hospital, Harry commented to Nancy “I don’t know why the old priest wants to see us, but it will certainly help our images.” Nancy couldn’t help but agree.

When they arrived at the dying man’s room, the priest took Nancy ‘s hand in his right hand and Harry’s hand in his left.

There was silence and a look of serenity settled across the old priest’s face.

Finally Nancy spoke. “Father, of all the people you could have chosen, why did you choose us to be with you as you near the end?”

The old priest slowly replied. “I have always tried to pattern my life after our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” His voice trailed off . .

.After a brief pause, he continued . . . “The Lord died between two lying thieves, and I would like to do the same.”

  • We live about an hour from Notre Dame, so we’re hearing a lot about the Pres. being invited to speak at graduation.  I’m not Catholic, but I am pro-life, and I’m disappointed that this is happening.  We’ve visited the school several times, and it’s a beautiful campus.  My sister-in-law is Catholic (she was born in Ireland, and her mother still lives there.) We took her to see the school when she visited us.  She and my brother live in Spain and she goes to an English Catholic Church in Madrid.

  • @ata_grandma - This Presidant is going to be the fall of this nation, I think, for more reasons than I can list.  And the disappointment of those who voted for him.  God help us all.  I pray daily for his conversion to the Christian religion that he claims.

  • I am really trying to be a good Christian and pray for this man.I know I have to do it.  It is worse than trying to pray for ex son in law simply because he is still in my g-kids lives.

I read and know enough Bible to realize that God is not pleased with us as a nation and when things like Iowa just did happen I think more and more of Sodom and Gomorra and Noah’s time.  We are studying in Isaac right now and all this is just like God said years ago whenever this Sunday School guilde was being planned…..This is going to be happening to my people at the time they get this guide.

The things that are going on on this first trip oversees to represent us …… I wonder how many are laughing at us now?

  • *giggling*  but sad.  Thanks for the giggle and the food for thought.  I’ll remember to pray for them tonight!

  • All I can say is OUCH!
