Friday afternoon I came home from picking MK up from school and this pile of logs had been delivered to the house.  Only I did not notice until my husband asked me about it when he got home from work.  I asked my oldest is he knew anything about it and he couldn’t tell a lie.  He and his brother Adam had conspired to order the logs to be cut into fire wood for the house so that his family wouldn’t be cold this coming winter.  What kind of men have we raised.  So generous and thoughtful.  And I know a soldier who is coming home on leave in December who is willing to cut and split them into stove size lengths so that I don’t have to.  I think that my wood splitting days are finally over for good.  My back and hips can’t take it anymore.

MK wanted to do a little trail riding with Rocco in our fields last weekend.  Rocco wasn’t having any of it though.  He was acting a little wild and uncooperative so she ended up walking him and having to disciplining him.  She is very patient with him though and one of these days he will get the message about who is boss.

Here is one of the dresses that I have been commissioned to make.  All that is left to do is make button holes and do the hand sewing.

Matthew made himself this jacket.  He even put the zipper in by himself.  I don’t do zippers very well so he taught himself.

He made me these slippers so my feet will be warm this winter.  What a good son.

This jumper and fleece is for a little girl who goes to our church.  There are eight children in the family and I had the fabric on hand so I thought I would make an outfit for her to help them out.  I think it turned out kind of nice.

We aren’t sitting around here doing nothing.

  • I must say that you and your husband have done a marvelous job in raising your children. Even though I don’t know you personally, from what I’ve read about your family over the months, I feel quite confident in saying so. And I love the dresses you made!

  • Aren’t you glad you had us?

  • Good for the young men in your life and for you and your hubby for having them turn out the way they have.

The clothes look nice and that little girl is going to be WOWED!!!  Good job on the son’s sewing too.  Men need to know how to sew and cook in order to take care of themselves and some woman will be thrilled to have someone so well trained in years to come.

  • @mksmak - I am indeed glad that I had you and I should say it more often.  Can’t wait until Friday when you get to come home again.  Did you get my message about the pig?

  • @TheSunnyC - My men can sew many things, their own clothing and beautiful quilts for their beds.  They are all at least passable cooks while one of this is quite a good cook.  They can do laundry and keep a fine house. But there is not hurry about finding spouses for them though.  I am praying that just the right one comes along.

  • @whteroses - Thank you for the compilment.  If you would like to get to know one of us more read my son’s blog at xanga.com/p_obrien  he is a fine young man and I am still wondering how he got to be so smart.

  • Wow! I love the sewing projects. Makes me want to open my machines. ~ L

  • So I guess this vacation will be what you might call an active vacation. Kind of like floating, I can never seem to get the hang of sitting back relaxing.

  • @P_Obrien - Only if you want to.  You’re the one who said, and I quote “save some wood for me”  But if you don’t want to cut wood then you don’t have to.
