  • He’s Back!!!!!!!!!!!!

The guy is home.  After much waiting and his older brother calling me three times yesterday to ask if he was home.  Then driving through a thunderstorm and heavy downpour.  Then drinking the worst coffee that was ever made.  Here he is.  He’s home in my garage entering into the cleaning frenzy.

There are three pies in the oven and two more on the counter waiting to be baked.  There are pork chops thawing and salt potatoes waiting to be cooked.  The kitchen is in full swing.

  • Doing a happy dance for you (and praying that Matthew can tough it out),
(and what the heck are salt potatoes?)

  • @standingonthepromises - You don’t have salt potatoes?  I guess that they are a NY State delicacy.  They are little new potatoes boiled with a lot of salt.  About a pound of salt to about 5 pounds of potatoes.  (the potatoes are left whole and just scrubbed before they are cooked.)  When they are cooked (just fork tender) they are drained and then ALOT of butter is stirred into them and then they are eaten.  While you are eating them you use the potato to soak up the butter.  Late spring and summer is the only time that they are available.  They are yummy when you are eating outside.  You can be messy like when eating sweet corn.

  • Food! Real Food? Tell me I’m not dreaming.

  • What an amazing blessing to have your son home. I hope all the pies and porkchops comes out fantastic! ~ L

  • I’m so happy for you!  And for your son!
