Layn's mother is really into horses, cowboys, and that kind of stuff. I guess that little thirll passed me by when I was growing up. (it might have something to do with being thrown from a horse when I was in college) Anyway, on the way home from picking Doug up from work we saw this little rocking horse for free on the side of the road.
Granted Layn may be a bit small for it yet but it doesn't hurt to have it here when he does get big enough. Every time his mom and MK go up the road to ride the neighbor's horses he goes too and gets to watch them. Today we had the added benefit of him having some clothing on too.
This child purely dislikes warm weather and so he exists only in a diaper when the temp. gets above 65 and the humidity soars. Today it was a balmy 58 with a nice breeze and dry. We spent the morning outside weeding the squash beds and hilling the potatoes.
Matthew and Alex had a bit too much time on their hands today I think. They got to fooling around and Matthew zip tied Alex's wrists together. Alex was adament that he could get loose. His mother and I were ok with that as long as he was set free in time to clean his bedroom.
Alex was wrong and Matthew ended up having to cut the zip ties. Alex surprised us all and not only cleaned up the bedroom but he swept the floor and mopped it. The bed is made almost as neatly as I would make it too. He is really looking forward to the big guy coming home tomorrow.
When we weed in the gardens we load all of the weeds that we get into a wagon and dump them into the pig yard for the pigs to eat. Matthew decided to strap Layn on while he was doing that job so that Layn could get some fresh air and Melissa could get some inside work done. That begged the question, "how many women does it take to help a man put on a baby carrier?" First Kim got in on the act.
Then Melissa had to help as well. Layn was a bit miffed by the delay. Eventually they got it all adjusted and off they went to load up weeds and feed the pigs. You can't start kids off too young with farm chores.
