  • Looks Like I Got Up Too Early.....

    DSC00628

something woke me up too early this morning.  So before I showered for Mass I decided to make a couple of bread doughs and a large dough for pie crusts.  When I came home from Mass the doughs had risen and it was time to form the loaves and roll out the crusts.

Now the bread is put away for Doug to have for his lunches at work for the next few days and there is only one pie left in the house.  Ian took one for coffee break at work, I gave one to a friend who's son just got out of the hospital and one to the neighbor who is helping me learn how to make my own wine.  It's good practice, next week I have to make pies for a sale at church.  Better have a few early mornings next week too.

  • Simple Pleasures Are The Best

17 years-ago today I gave birth to Matthew Joseph.  He was a 6 lb 7 oz bouncing baby boy.  How do you think that a teen-age boy wants to spend his birthday?  He went to the DMV and took his permit test.  He just passed it.  His dad wouldn't even let him drive home from the DMV.  (he did let Matthew drive him back to work)

While they were gone to work I put the finishing touches on the first of his birthday presents.  I made him this new fleece.  He keeps growing out of everything that I make him.

When he got home from work he tried it on and it is a perfect fit.  I think he likes it too.  (it's his favorite color)

Also the book that he ordered from the library was in so he is in teenaged heaven.  What more can a man want?  A new warm fleece and a good read.  Wait until Sunday when we actually celebrate his birthday.  He has ordered a particularly special meal.  Lemon pepper chicken, rice, caesar salad, and corn.  Dessert will be raspberry hazelnut trifle.  We have a few other special surprises for him that day too.  It should shape up to be a good birthday.  This mother still has a couple of good birthday celebrations left in her.

    Happy birthday to you Matthew.
