  • The Simple Womans Daybook 12 April 2010

Outside my window…….it is dark and a bit chilly I think since it is none too warm in the house.  We are supposed to have a nice sunny day in the sixties if the weatherman is to be believed.  I hope so since I plan on planting potatoes after I finish all my schoolwork.

I am thinking…….there are days when I wish that no one else would get up until I am good and ready to have company.  Everyone in this house is too darn happy and peppy in the morning.  I think that God likes to match up people like me with people like them.

I am thankful for………answers to prayer even when the answer isn’t what I would have liked.  It is still nice to know that He is listening to me.

From the schoolroom…….Matthew and I will be hard at work filling our minds with worthy material, that is as soon as he gets out of bed and gets going.

From the kitchen…….I haven’t a clue what is on the menu today.  There are only enough leftovers for lunch so I guess that means that someone has to cook supper today.

I am wearing……sweats and a tee shirt.  Far too early for this non-morning person to be showered and dressed for the day.

I am creating…….nothing concrete but much in my mind.  Perhaps if I get the potatoes planted in a timely fashion I can spend some quality time with the quilting machine that my son bought for me.

I am going…….to stay at home today and get the usual Monday stuff done.

I am reading……..actually I am rereading The Secret Garden for my origins of the English language class.

I am hoping…….that my sons are successful in the time spent doing Army stuff these coming weeks.

I am hearing…….the sound of my husband making himself some breakfast, the dogs frolicking outside, and the fan on my laptop.

Around the house……all else is quiet.  It is almost time for me to go get Matthew up so that he can start the day.

One of my favorite things…….the way that the darkness in the house wraps around me and holds me fast like a blanket of comfort.

A few plans for the rest of the week…….the usual household stuff, schoolwork, get the potatoes, beets, carrots, and the rest of the peas into the ground before we get any more rain.  Then perhaps I can get the asparagus and raspberries cleaned up and weeded before the weeds take hold.  In between times I have to finish a first Communion dress, wait for a baby to be born, learn how to use my new quilting machine, and be a mother to this crew.  Shouldn’t be too hard.

Here is a picture thought that I am sharing with you……

A little puppy love that I caught on the sofa just before I made them get down.  They either look imploring or guilty.

My first dandelion.  I don’t know why I like to chronicle that but it pleases me to see the brave things poking themselves up wherever they can get a purchase.

The big garden got rototilled this past week against all odds.  Now it is up to me to get the crops in and then the Lord can take care of the rest.  Oh, did I mention that the lawns need mowing already.

Doug and Matthew even managed to get the trampoline moved and set up.  The next day we had a high winds and a storm threatened and they had to turn it over so it wouldn’t blow away, go figure.

  • That 2nd paragraph does seem to be true.  My husband wakes up earlier than me and watches TV quietly.  As soon as he sees me he turns the sound up and I cringe.  I don’t like bright lights or loud noises early in the morning.  No, I haven’t told him…..at least he keeps it quiet while I’m sleeping.
The Secret Garden…….a good book.  Have a good week.  Hope the weather cooperates so you can get your planting done.

  • I am not chipper in the mornings! I have always been more of evening person. My Children so far are the same. However, when I was a little girl, God had me with a Mom that was a morning person. She use to vacuum in my room really early! To this day, if I go to her house for a visit, I know she will be up cleaning at 5:30 and the rest of us better bring some ear plugs!  :)

Yeah, for your flower! And, the dogs are adorable sneaking a morning snuggle on your sofa!

  • @Camarige - I can’t be too severe with the dogs since they are too funny when they do things like that.  Brutus is such a brother to Isabella.  Right after I took that pic I snuggled up with them and then chased them off the sofa before my mean old husband caught them where they shouldn’t be.  He is far more strict than I am.

  • mu husband figures if my eyes are open, I must want to talk. I try to sleep until he leaves so I can have quiet time. Blessings on your week.

  • I hope to put up the g-kid’s trampoline this summer for them to use while they are here.
