What A Mother Won’t Do To Please Her Son!!!
Today we packed up the car with lots of food and went to Cobleskill to visit with Jason. When we got there his idea of a good time was for all of us to go snowboarding. It didn’t matter that his mother has a bad back and a bad leg.
“You can do it, Mom!!!” “You’ll be fine.”
So here I go on the snowboard. The instructor is telling me how it’s done.
Here I am in the snow and done with the snowboard. My back and leg are going to let me know tomorrow that I am not an athlete or a young child anymore. But it sure was fun and Jason seemed to enjoy watching me try it out. I guess it is worth the pain.
My husband, on the other hand seemed to take to it like he was born to it. He even got off the kiddie hill and went on to a harder slope.
Mary-Kate did very well. She was very careful and didn’t fall all that often. We watched her and her back was never in any jeopardy. There weren’t that many people on the easy hill that we were on. I think she liked it.
Matthew is a natural at anything that he tries. He got on the board and was instantly an expert. He only stayed on the baby hill because the rest of us were there. As soon as I turned in my board and boots he was ready for the more difficult slope.
Jason snowboards like he does everything else, with as much “cool” as he can muster. You would never know that he was exerting himself at all. (maybe he wasn’t) Although judging by all the food that he ate afterward I think he exerted himself plenty.
I hope he enjoyed the visit as much as we did.

I never have been snowboarding! (B/c it never snows hardly ever here in Texas!) But it looks like fun! And it looks, like you all had a really great time! I hope you’re not too sore though.
Have a great night!
Love, Michelle
Nice. It’s warming up here. After all the hype about “Afghani winters” I’m disappointed. It was pretty lame.
VERY BRAVE of you to try that, especially with a bad leg and back! I am wary of it at full capacity. It looks like everyone had a good time though!
How fun! It looks like you all had a great time and made wonderful memories! I’m sure I would have ended up on my back in the snow at least once too!
OH my goodness!!!! I really do appreciate how much you must love your son!!!!! LOL You are an angel!
That’s great that you did that! You can tell, I know the dangers of it all! There are many things that I might have tried back in my 20s and even my 30s…but I’m a bit more careful with myself now.
Bravissimo! And thank God you came home in one piece! Bless your heart!
What hoppened to my comment!? lol That’s so strange!
Okay….Let’s try this again.
Goodness! You are a brave and very loving mom!!!!!
Bravissimo!!!! I don’t know if I would have tried that, you are much braver than I!
I’m so glad you got home in one piece! What a great mom you are!
RYC: Yes, I am so grateful for a Dad who’s taken such leadership in this situation! Even the guy said he was pleased to no end the actions Dad took in this. (his attitude has been very good overall… but still there are considerable issues that would be extremely concerning for any potential relationship.)
Have a wonderful weekend!
Lea
That’s why your back has been hurting, lol.
